Aderyn was recently called to investigate an insect infestation in a private collection of stuffed animals. On investigation it was discovered that the offending insect was in fact Anthrenus verbasci, better known as Verigated Carpet Beetle.

By the time the client had discovered the problem the beetle has devoured two exhibits and were discovered in at least a dozen more. Due to the nature of the exhibits, a non invasive treatment was the only way forward. Not a problem for the highly trained staff at Aderyn who recommended that a freezing treatment would be the best way to preserve the exhibits while controlling the Beetle. After careful preparation, the exhibits were frozen for three weeks resulting in total control of the pest with no damage incurred. Aderyn now carry out regular monitoring visits under contract to keep them pest free.
